Great design is more than just a visual feast–it’s an experience, a meticulous journey where every material, piece of furniture, and accessory is selected with a purpose. In this stunning collaboration, Cantoni partnered with Joshua Rice Design to create a space that feels deeply personal, intentionally curated, and utterly timeless.

The project, guided by Rice’s design philosophy, aimed to seamlessly integrate new, vintage, and obscure elements, resulting in a truly unique environment. “We want things to feel special and intentional,” Rice explains. “Nothing should look like it was picked up from a big box store. Every piece should have a sense of craft, purpose, or collectability.” With Cantoni’s extensive portfolio and bespoke design services, the team was able to achieve precisely that.

This particular interior began with a striking architectural foundation, designed by Smitharc Architecture + Interiors. With large windows that flood the space with natural light, the team wasn’t afraid to embrace a dark, exotic material palette. “When you lay out these materials, they can look intimidatingly dark. But in reality, the natural light transforms the space into something incredibly warm and inviting,” Rice shares.

Rice credits much of the project’s success to the synergy between his firm, the architect, and the contractor, Randy Kienast. “It’s rare to have this level of creative freedom on a project. The trust our clients placed in us allowed us to push boundaries and deliver something truly exceptional.”

For Cantoni, this project represents the essence of purpose: combining artistic vision with practical expertise to realize spaces that inspire and delight. The Bonaldo table with a textural glass top was one such standout piece, perfectly complementing the surrounding dark woods and stone finishes. “I typically don’t like glass tables,” Rice admits, “but this one is different. The textured surface elevates it, making it a functional and aesthetic centerpiece without the fuss of constant upkeep.”

Cantoni’s curated collection of luxury brands played a pivotal role in achieving this project’s layered aesthetic. Iconic lines like Henge and Rimadesio brought elegance and innovation to the design, while versatile pieces such as bar stools added durability and style. “Cantoni’s showroom is like a treasure trove,” Rice notes. “You can stand in one spot and see nine different brands, each offering something unique.”

For Rice, Cantoni’s presence on Dragon Street in the Dallas Design District has been a game-changer. “When they expanded their offerings, especially with brands like Aster Cucine, it opened up incredible possibilities for designers like me. Their resources allow us to bring our visions to life with ease.”

This collaboration stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design. From concept to completion, Cantoni and Joshua Rice Design worked hand in hand to craft an environment that celebrates artistry, intention, and individuality. It’s a space that doesn’t just look good–it feels good, telling a story with every carefully chosen detail.
