Architect-Designed Home, Interiors by Cantoni, This is the Way to Retire!
Upon retirement, Rob Wilsey and his wife, Mary, pulled up roots in Southern California and headed to the peace and quiet of Granbury, Texas, a lovely little lake town southwest of Fort Worth.
Easier said than done, considering the logistics of finding the ideal property, working with architect and builder long distance, the moving itself, finding the right interior designer, and sourcing the contemporary furnishings they wanted.
Rob and Mary had shopped Cantoni Irvine, so they knew of us, and were delighted to discover Cantoni Dallas, our flagship store and company headquarters, is the premier source for modern furniture in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth region.
Says Rob, “The furniture we brought from California didn’t work with the house’s architecture, so we thought we’d go with a new look. We had tried the services of two designers and were not happy with the results.
“We decided to shop for dining room furniture at Cantoni. On that visit we met Marty Buchanan, who showed us the Bellagio collection, which we purchased.”
Later the Wilseys came back looking for pieces to go with the sectional they’d brought with them. In the end they opted for our Mondrian sectional. They decided to build their living room around it and ask Marty’s help in creating an overall plan for the interiors.
"We spent three years designing and building this house,” says Rob, “and wanted furnishings to match the modern elegance of the architecture.
Marty started with the Wilsey’s floor plans, made a house call, took lots of photos and measurements, then created two concepts with palettes and swatches, and suggestions for furniture and accessories. “To Marty’s surprise,” says Rob, “we chose what I thought of as the more leading-edge modern concept.
“With Marty’s consultation, I found myself really getting into the details of the interior design and choosing furnishings, materials and colors. She even helped us with the bedding.”
The nine steel palm trees, which are works of art in themselves and a salute to the Wilsey’s Southern California days, they had custom made. Great touch!
