Phillippe Starck and Yoo. The House and Cantoni. Sometimes two is best, and after seeing the impressive results of this interior design job completed by Cantoni Dallas’ Elizabeth Lewis and Josh DeLaFuente, there’s no doubt each of these pairs make a perfect match.
The challenge Josh and Elizabeth enthusiastically chose to accept was this: take a one-bedroom unit in an ultrahip high-rise building in Victory Park Dallas and finish it out for maximum decorative impact. “We went with one of the smaller floor plans offered at The House to show that with thoughtful preparation and design,” Elizabeth explains, “it’s possible to make a space feel larger than it is.” Adds Josh, “The executives seemed to take notice. When they walked into the place after we completed the project, they were amazed at how spacious the luxury condo looked.”
As always, the two designers began by studying the layout. “Upscale high-rise buildings like this are more popular than ever. They often have amazing architectural angles, but those can sometimes seem to limit furniture options,” says Josh. “This is where an experienced design professional can help clients strike a balance between functionality and style.” Curved sectional sofas and chairs work particularly well in these environments, and using different textiles and materials always contributes to a polished, sophisticated feel. “Ultimately we wanted the unit to exude a soft contemporary style that would appeal to entertaining bachelors as well as empty nesters,” says Elizabeth.
Here are a few of the notable design techniques used by tag-team Josh and Elizabeth on this one-bedroom condo at The House:
• The lightest of three floor stains was selected to maintain an open, airy feel.
• The palette is kept warm and neutral with pops of lime and turquoise to add liveliness.
• Custom art above the entertainment unit personalizes and brings dimension to the space.
• A mirror appears to enlarge the living areas while reflecting furniture, art, and the stunning views.
• Leather, textured fabrics, wood, glass, metals, and lacquer play a vital role in creating the stunning finished product.
