Texas Retreat
Another Great Waterside Design
We don’t have mountains around Dallas, but we have acres and acres of lakes. Not surprising that dramatic lake houses and retreats are getting to be a habit with the designers of Cantoni Dallas. Especially Marty Buchanan. This is the third of Marty’s lake home interiors we’ve featured.
Marty was “up” when the owner just walked into our flagship store showroom with his builder, floor plans, and definite ideas on what he wanted in this, his seventh custom-designed home.
“The client’s overall direction for the house,” says Marty, “ was ‘contemporary architecture, clean lines, simple details.’ We got right to work.
“It was to be a turnkey project: in just one walk-through the client had decided on the bold black and red palette for the main living areas (and more subdued colors for the bedrooms), minimalist but bold pieces of furniture, accessories and rugs.
“In a single weekend we had specified the furniture, scaled our choices to the dimensions of the floor plans and were off and running. I also worked with the builder to design the kitchen layout and cabinets, and the open staircase. Every step proceeded like clockwork. Talk about precision planning and turnkey design!”
Great job, Marty. I believe you are unofficially the lake house designer. With all our lakes, let’s hope this is a never-ending vocation. Thanks, too, to our client who knew what he wanted and made it happen, and to his builder, who, along Cantoni, turned a dream into reality in no time at all.
