Bravo! Cantoni Lounge for Symphony’s Casual Concerts
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra launched a series of Casual Friday and you might say Cantoni is a featured soloist.
When the Symphony's Joni Williams asked Cantoni Dallas if we'd like to participate in Casual Fridays by creating seating areas as a lounge for patrons before and after the concert, we were honored and delighted to be associated with this outstanding orchestra and its beautiful venue: the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas.
The Casual Fridays series", says Joni, "is designed to introduce new audiences to the DSO and to offer our long-time patrons something different from our regular concert experience. The Casual Fridays concerts start earlier and present a shorter program with no intermission, and we offer post-concert activities in the lounge.
"We welcome concertgoers to come in time for cocktails and light bites, mingling in the foyer, enjoying live jazz music, and the opportunity to meet and greet with DSO musicians and featured artists after the concert. And of course, we encourage you to dress casually, jeans even. But we needed suitable seating areas to make it all work."
Enter Cantoni, who brought some insights to the project above and beyond our experience in interior design. As you can see from the photos the foyer is a huge open space that we had to make intimate for the Casual series. We also had a challenge in foot traffic flows relative to the bar and dining areas, what pieces in what upholsteries and colors would work best in the space, and even where to position the jazz band.
We makes it sound easy, but choosing and arranging the furniture was only part of the task: the Cantoni warehouse crew delivered and installed the pieces in the Meyerson Friday afternoon, just before the concert, and packed them up Saturday morning back to our warehouse for storage till the next concert.
