Cantoni Makeover Gives Urban Warehouse New Life
A long-time client dropped into Cantoni Atlanta with an exciting project: an old warehouse he planned to make over into a dramatic residence in the heart of a downtown area in the process of renewing and redefining itself.
Cantoni Atlanta designer Kohl Sudnikovich had worked with this client on several projects, but, says Kohl, "this was something entirely new and different. While the client had restored and cleaned up the exterior to strict historic register guidelines, he had literally scooped out the 12,000 square ft. interior and planned to turn it into a modern showplace of an urban loft.
"He'd drawn up floor plans on a paper napkin, but he'd thought out in great detail what he wanted for the interiors, including a multi-level theater and garage with car elevators, as well as an outdoor area with swimming pool. He installed radiant heated floors throughout the entire residence, including the garage, outdoor area, poolside and outdoor kitchen. He'd also settled on the overall palette: neutrals with a punch of color accents.
"The client looked to Cantoni to help with furnishing the living room, dining room, master bedroom, theater, study, the outdoor area, window treatments and other finishing touches. We started with raw walls, cement floors and even a dirt floor and went from there.
"He'd dug out the floor of the original warehouse to accommodate the 3-tiered, 16-seat theater and the workout/bar area. The ground-level garage will accommodate up to 12 cars using an elevator system suitable for lifting and storing cars.
"The main level has living and dining areas, kitchen, music room, three bedrooms, guest bath. Next level up is the master bedroom with large glass windows overlooking the main level."
Kohl also reports that we had several pieces custom-made, including the Ray dining table, Uno ottomans, and Bubbles chandeliers. You can see all the Cantoni products shown here or used in the loft project on cantoni.com.
I've seen this project and the client's attention to detail is pretty amazing. The revitalized downtown area of Atlanta makes this project really special. You'd never guess by driving past the outside of this building what lies on the inside.
It is truly an amazing blend of old with new and the finished product is spectacular. Thanks to our loyal client for allowing us to help realize his creative vision and for permission to feature his remarkable home in this eNewsletter. And props to Kohl, again!
As Kohl mentions, Cantoni has worked with this client on several projects and is getting into his next one now. Meanwhile the repurposed warehouse residence is on the market. For more information, please email or call Cantoni Atlanta general manager, Lorna Hunter at 404 881-8111.
