There’s truth to the saying that one good thing leads to another. When Cantoni designer Gena Sylvester first walked into 2727 Kirby with a new prospective client, she had no idea she would emerge with a duo of staging projects for Martha Turner Properties at the same prestigious address. “While in the Kirby building with my client,” Gena explains, “Silvia Lopez (the on-site sales manager for Martha Turner Properties) asked if Cantoni would be interested in furnishing two model units on the 18th floor.” The chance meeting and inquiry turned into a staging job that was by all accounts a resounding success. Just three weeks after placing the furniture in the condominiums, one unit was under contract and has now sold. “The Turner people were thrilled. They wanted us to bring in coordinating contemporary looks that would give potential buyers furniture and design ideas for each distinct unit,” says Gena. “I feel like we highlighted the architectural attributes of this stunning property while showcasing the Cantoni aesthetic, proving that modern style and comfort can coexist in harmony.”

Here’s how Gena’s staging project at 2727 Kirby unfolded:
• Gena did a walk-thru and discussed what furnishings were used in the condominiums before, noting what did and didn’t work.
• She took photos and left with a “wish list” from Silvia, along with floor plans for each unit.
• Back at the in-house design studio at Cantoni Houston, Gena reviewed inventory (since special orders were out due to time constraints) and came up with a proposal and pricing.
• Gena met with Silvia to review her selections and finalize the approval process.
• Furnishings, art and accessories were delivered and in place within a week.
• The condominium (in primary shades of black/white/red) sold, the other has an interested buyer who is considering buying it furnished, and yet another is set to be staged!
